Speaker Adapter Plates

33 Engineering has designed a bracket that will allow a 5¼" coaxial speaker to be installed in place of the less than desirable 4x6" speakers in the dash. Why install 5¼" speakers instead of a better 4x6" speakers?

Speaker manufacturers sell a lot more 5¼" speakers than they do 4x6" speakers, so they spend more money on them, and put more technology into them.

An ovicular speaker is prone to more distortion at higher output levels because the "long" part of the speaker will tend to fold.

Because of the two points above, you will find 5¼s with more power handling capabilities, and they will sound better at their higher potential output level. This is criticle for jeep owners who want to be able to hear their sound system (and have it sound good) with the top down.
