97-02 Rear Seat Subwoofer Box

The 33 Engineering "In Seat" Sub Box is continuing innovation to help take your Jeep's sound system to the next level. There are many things to consider when adding sound to your Jeep, but in our opinion the foremost concern should be security. With our custom designed box, you will be able to fit a pair of down-firing 10" woofers into the rear seat of your jeep without sacrificing any storage space! That's right! NONE! Because the sub box fits inside the rear seat, not only do you keep it out of sight, but you won't lose the use of any functionality of your Wrangler.

Installation: To install this sub box, you will need to remove some of the foam from the rear seat. Approximately 1 to 1.5" of foam is left in tact, so your seat is still very functional and comfortable to sit in. The seat height will be raised about 2 to 3 inches from the installation. This has nothing to do with modifying the seat mounts. It is just a byproduct of having the sub box in the seat. There is a compromise between seat height and sound output from the subwoofers. The closer they are to the ground they are, the less output you'll get. You can install the box to keep the seat as low as stock, but this would be a compromise you'll have to make. There are modifications necessary to the seat frame to get the box to fit at any height. Please see our installation instructions for more information.

Recommended Subwoofers: The sub enclosure was designed to exactly 1 cubic foot of air space. This is a common size for good quality speakers. The enclosure will work with any sub with a mounting depth of up to 5.25". Due to the face of the sub mounting on an angle, you may be able to get away with slightly more or possibly less depth depending on the width of the magnet. Most 5.25" mounting depth woofers will work. The ideal sub to use is a pair of Boston Acoustics Pro 10.5LFs. They will work perfectly in the 1 cubic foot enclosure since they each require .5 cubic feet. If you're only going to use a single sub, then make sure it requires more room to operate. You can port the box yourself, although we sell it as a sealed enclosure. Often ported boxes require more space then a sealed box.
